Quiet and sometimes shy, Joyce gained her powers when the Loners battled the magnetic menace called Magna Khan. When the vile villain dropped an aircraft carrier on the Loners, Joyce was an innocent bystander caught in the devastation. This disaster activated her mutant ability to transform into energy. Surrounded by an aura of crackling black energy, and composed of energy herself, she is able to fly, fire powerful blasts from her hands, and possesses super strength. Possibly the most powerful of the Loners, they are still, nevertheless very protective of her.
